The celebration will be multi- lingual tonight with singers from Ireland, Scotland, US, and Cape Breton. Ye Vagabonds are all about celebrating song—in the singing, writing, choosing and performing. Their repertoire of original and folk songs has made its way from the traditional and folk scenes around Dublin to stages around the world, aided in no small way by its passionate presentation. Passion always has a place in celebration, and in song. You’d have to search far and wide to find two more passionately dedicated to song than Margaret Bennett and Norman Kennedy. Margaret’s lifelong study of Gaelic and Scottish culture is strongly connected to song and Norman is devoted to the traditions of ballad- singing and storytelling. Roger Stone can certainly relate to that tradition as can Chéticamp singer-songwriter Nicole LeBlanc who will complete this celebration of songs in Sydney River.
