Dave Gunning and J.P. Cormier have been good buddies and musical compadres since the mid-1990s when J.P. returned from Nashville and Dave was looking for a fiddler to fill in at the last minute for a show. Performing, touring and recording together whenever they could over the years, they finally formalized the partnership last summer with the release of their first album together. The album reflects what they do best on stage—collaborating on new songs, rearranging old folk standards, and having some laughs in the process. This is not unfamiliar territory for Rum Ragged, whose Newfoundland heritage practically revolves around singing traditional songs and writing new ones, playing tunes, and having a good time while they’re at it. Danish folk duo Gangspil, share a love for folk and dance music, collecting and performing old dance tunes and songs from every corner of their Scandinavian home. Get ready for an entertaining afternoon of songs, tunes and plenty of laughs at the Highland Arts Theatre in Sydney on this last day of the Festival.
NEARBY MEALS: NEARBY MEAL: Roast Beef Supper in Sydney and NEARBY MEAL: Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner
