The St. Peter’s Parish Church in Ingonish has been witness to many memorable moments in its more than 100-year history. And memories are sure to be made again tonight in this beautiful old church as the surrounding hills of the Cape Breton Highlands come to life with the sounds of fiddle tunes and dancing feet, guitar-picking, and all-around good times. The Hills Are Alive will showcase a variety of fiddle and dance styles from the Ottawa Valley and Québécois traditions, and tunes with Cape Breton, Irish, Scottish, old- time American and Appalachian roots. Featuring the April Verch Band from the Ottawa Valley, Québécois dancer and choreographer Pierre Chartrand with the exciting young duo Chartrand Babineau, and 2018 “Big Sampie” award-winning Cape Breton guitarist James MacLean, performing with his mentor Scott Macmillan, this concert will be one of those rare occassions when Cape Breton’s spectacular scenery is overshadowed.
