Bette MacDonald and Maynard Morrison are well-known for the hilarious characters that were, and continue to be, the backbone of popular shows the Rise and Follies of Cape Breton Island, the Cape Breton Summertime Revue, and ‘Tis the Season. If anyone remembers the Celtic Idol show from a few Celtic Colours ago, you know that Beòlach’s Wendy MacIsaac is willing to go the extra mile for a laugh. And if anyone knows the crew that is Beòlach, you’ll recognize that she is not alone in that department among the rest of the band. Of course, Beòlach will be on hand primarily for the tunes, but you just never really know what can happen on a night like this. Cyril MacPhee and Roger Stone will handle the songs for the evening, although they’re pretty funny guys themselves. They may even have some funny stories about when they used to play together in the popular Cape Breton band Brakin’ Tradition a few (or so) years ago. It seems safe to say that there may be some familiar Cape Breton characters showing up at the Highland Arts Theatre tonight. Don’t miss this memorable night of music and laughs.
