We’re back in Port Hawkesbury tonight to wrap up this 23rd Celtic Colours International Festival, and while it can be a bit sad for the Festival to be coming to a close, we are very much looking forward to this concert. We’ll catch up with our Artists in Residence, Beòlach and Breabach, who will be teaming up for this Causeway Ceilidh after playing together earlier in the week at Strathspey Performing Arts Centre in Mabou. And we’ll get to hear from the lovely and talented Gaelic singer and multi- instrumentalist Julie Fowlis from North Uist in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides. Julie was last at Celtic Colours in 2004 with the group Dòchas. Since then she has gone on to become a sought-after presenter for television and radio as well as releasing award-winning and critically acclaimed albums, performing on stages from village halls in the Highlands to Carnegie Hall in New York, and singing the theme to Disney Pixar’s hit movie Brave. Julie will be backed by a stellar band of players you’ll recognize from past Festivals including Éamon Doorley (Danú), Duncan Chisholm (Phil Cunningham), and Tony Byrne (Alan Kelly Gang, Niamh Ní Charra). Don’t miss Julie’s only performance at Celtic Colours this year. And why not head to the Festival Club after for one last toast and a final blast of tunes.
