If you haven’t seen Scottish-born Canadian carpenter-turned-songwriter David Francey at the Festival yet this year, don’t miss this last chance to hear a true master of his craft in concert. David first came to Celtic Colours in 2004, returning three of the next four years, and again in 2014, making deep connections with the Festival every time he returned. David helps us welcome the new venue in this afternoon concert near Iron Mines. Known as L’Arche Cape Breton Gathering Place, it certainly does live up to its name and will be a good place to gather for an afternoon of music this October. It will be exciting to see Englishtown singer and songwriter Michael Cavanaugh, who is still building his career, sharing the bill with an established, award-winning writer like David Francey. And bringing a modern influence to the tradition of sharing and arranging tunes, Inn Echo adds a tinge of jazz, pop, and even electronic music to the trad art form as they are poised to emerge as Prince Edwards Island’s greatest Celtic fusion export in years to come.
