Get an early start on the weekend with this Banger in Baddeck, on the beautiful grounds of the Inverary Resort. The MacAulay Conference Centre hosted the Festival Club in 1998 and 1999, when Celtic Colours was based in Baddeck. One of a handful of licenced concerts during the Festival, it will be like going back to old times tonight, the room bursting with the energy of music and dancing and people enjoying a good time. Renowned Cape Breton traditional group Beòlach came out of this environment and will be in fine form in the familiar territory. Shane Pendergast grew up immersed in a culture of family kitchen parties on Prince Edward Island where his great-grandparents worked to preserve local folklore. He will sing songs from his award-winning debut album. Anna MacDonald grew up with deep roots in Cape Breton culture. She will share some Cape Breton steps in her hometown tonight. Tunes, songs, dance and the genre-bending, progressive sounds and high-energy arrangements of The Fretless will make this Banger a night to remember. Keep in mind, as Celtic Colours co-founder Max MacDonald astutely noted, that this festival is a marathon not a sprint. The final weekend is on the horizon.
