he Guitar Summit has become a staple of the Celtic Colours lineup each year and is one of the most anticipated concerts in a Festival that boasts so many must-see events. The Thursday night concert has, over the years, explored the ever-evolving role that this most ubiquitous of instruments has played in traditional music. Whether exploring sophisticated chording accompaniment, full-speed-ahead finger and flat- picking tunes, flavourful harmony lines, or sympathetic and syncopated rhythmic structures, the Guitar Summit never fails to deliver dazzling results from the stage. Past Artist in Residence, and Guitar Summit mainstay J.P. Cormier welcomes back Scottish string master Anna Massie—who hosted a Guitar Summit at Celtic Connections in in Glasgow, Scotland, earlier this year. They shared the stage in Cape Breton a few times during the past twenty years and they’re back at it tonight along with Ray Legere making his fourth appearance in the Summit. Fifteen-time Grammy Award-winning banjo phenom Béla Fleck rounds out this lineup for what promises to be a night to remember in Judique.
