Singers, songwriters, and instrumentalists from Cape Breton, Scotland, and the U.S. will be representing here, there, and everywhere tonight at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Sydney River. Not only do these performers come from far flung places, their music has taken them all over as well. After more than a decade of travelling far and wide performing with Còig, Rachel Davis and Darren McMullen released their debut album as a duo, Home, earlier this year. They will feel at home in this concert sharing the stage with their good pal Buddy MacDonald, who has been singing his songs throughout North America, Scandinavia, Scotland, and Germany for more than 45 years. Scottish harp player and composer Màiri Chaimbeul’s wide-ranging collaborations cover a lot of ground, and Jay Ungar and Molly Mason didn’t become one of the most celebrated duos on the American acoustic music scene by staying put. This concert welcomes Ryan Young, an award-winning fiddler from Scotland making his Celtic Colours debut tonight.
