Situated on the northeast coast of Cape Breton Island, along the world-famous Cabot Trail, Chéticamp is home to a vibrant culture, rich traditions, and an abundance of music and dance. Soirées are hosted throughout the year in this Acadian community, and with Celtic Colours here, throughout the week as well. This evening’s gathering at La Place des arts Père Anselme Chiasson is a chance to bid adieu to award-winning, globe-trotting Quebecois trio Genticorum, who have been wowing audiences around the Island since they got here. Past Artist in Residence Troy MacGillivray makes his way to Chéticamp for the soirée tonight to play in a trio with Celtic Colours first-timer Caitlin Warbelow—who played fiddle in the original Broadway cast of the Tony Award-winning and Grammy Award-nominated musical, Come From Away, and well-travelled guitarist Jake Charron who you may recognize from critically-acclaimed and popular Prince Edward Island group The East Pointers. Traditional Acadian music will complete the evening with local francophone group Hirondelles featuring Elyse Delaney, Michelle Deveau, and Nicole Deveau.
