The scenic town of Louisbourg has been a cultural crossroads for four centuries and tonight it will be the meeting place of some outstanding musicians from Scotland, Ireland, and Cape Breton in the annual Louisbourg Crossroads concert. The concert will take place in the Louisbourg Playhouse, a unique and intimate venue that was built as a theatre-in-the-round for the 1993 Walt Disney production of the film Squanto: A Warrior's Tale. The Playhouse was dismantled and moved from the Fortress of Louisbourg, where they shot the movie, to the town where it now sits as a cultural centrepiece. This is your last chance to see award-winning and universally acclaimed Scottish band Breabach who will be wrapping up their time at this year’s Festival with this concert. John Doyle and Mick McAuley are two of the most respected and accomplished musicians in the world of Celtic Music. Former members of the Irish-American super-group SOLAS, they have played and toured together for many years. They are joined at the Festival by longtime collaborator Oisin McAuley who plays fiddle with renowned Irish group Danú. This trio will delight you with blistering tunes, heartfelt traditional ballads and original songs, and their quick- witted stage presence. A fine crowd of Cape Bretoners complete the lineup with all the essential elements of traditional music that Cape Bretoners are known for—fiddles, pipes, guitar, and dancing. What a crew this is to meet up at the crossroads!
