For most of the 20th century, Orangedale was a small railway service centre, with most of its residents employed by the railway. Orangedale Station, built in 1886, was the most important railway station between the Strait of Canso and Sydney. Passenger service ended in 1990, but a group of community volunteers formed in 1988 to save the station, now part of an extensive railway museum. Heartwarming ballads and lively tunes from Cape Breton along with the best of Denmarkâs fiddle style will hark back to the days when the Orangedale Whistle blew loud and clear.
Nearby meal: Supper by the Lakes, Smith Community Hall
