Tonight Gaelic songs and tunes welcome a Swedish balladeer to the church on the hill. Cape Breton singer Mary Jane Lamond adopted Gaelic while attending university and has since become an active leader in the preservation of Gaelic culture. Swedish folksinger Esbjörn Hazelius, who is also known for Irish fiddling, will sing some of his own songs – inspired by old Irish, Swedish and American music – in Swedish. Esbjörn will be joined on stage by Nyckelharpa player and composer Johan Hedin. John Doyle, Kimberley Fraser, and Tracey Dares MacNeil add some tunes from Ireland, Scotland and Cape Breton for good measure.
Nearby meal: Roast Beef Supper, Iona Royal Canadian Legion
