As we have learned and experienced throughout the week, Celtic and Nordic music have many things in common. Both traditions draw upon common Western musical traditions, the basic patterns of which have roots going back several centuries, and they share elements of melody, harmony and rhythm. There is instrumental repertoire in both traditions, played on similar instruments, as well as strong song and dance cultures. With players and singers from Cape Breton, Sweden, Norway and Ireland, tonight is what our theme is all about…we’re all connected through the songs and tunes we love. What better place than Big Pond, the home of famous composers, to discover and share our musical connections.
