We are proud to present this very special experience to our Celtic Colours audience for the 20th time. We are blessed to have one of the finest reconstructed historic sites in North America. A treasured National Historic Site of Canada, the Fortress of Louisbourg has been one of our venues since our first festival and has consistently been the first show to sell out. That may be because we don’t often get the chance to step back in time and feel what life was like in the days of our ancestors. By the mid-1740s the Fortress of Louisbourg was one of the most extensive fortifications constructed outside of Europe. A sophisticated society, life was both gentile and difficult depending on one’s social status. Tonight you’ll be served an 18th century meal followed by a lantern-lit walk to the stunning chapel in the King’s bastion where you enjoy an acoustic concert by candlelight. There will be beautiful songs in Gaelic and English as well as lively fiddle music from Scotland. Allow yourself to be transported. But don’t delay. Memories are made of this.
