There’s nothing quite like the sounds of beautiful music in a church. Heavenly harmonies will rise to the rafters tonight in this lovely church in Sydney River as the Cape Breton Chorale shares its repertoire of classical, new and traditional songs. The Chorale has been thrilling audiences in Canada, Scotland and Ireland since its formation more than thirty years ago and has continued to play an important role in Cape Breton’s cultural landscape. They will share the evening with another beacon of Cape Breton culture. Fiddler and composer Dwayne Cote has deep traditional roots, but his unique tones are unforgettable and have taken him from Cork to Dubai and across Canada. Scottish pianist Mhairi Hall and her trio will bring a whole new approach to traditional music. You’ll detect Irish influences in her style that contribute to a really unique sound. Just imagine the possibilities if Mhairi and Dwayne were to find some tunes in common. Your toes will be tapping and your heart will sing.
Hosted by Men's Brotherhood-United Protestant Church of Sydney River
