Celtic Colours kicks off its 21st year with a return to Centre 200. Featuring some well-known names alongside a few new faces, this concert sets the tone for the “week” to come with some truly outstanding players, singers and dancers. Tonight we’ll see artists from Scotland, Ireland, Nunavut, and from right here at home. It is very exciting to welcome Michael McGoldrick and John McCusker to Celtic Colours. Along with past Artist in Residence John Doyle, they will be making their Cape Breton debut as a trio. This will also be Festival debuts for throat-singer IVA from Nunavut and Cape Breton’s own Heather Rankin. Scottish Gaelic singer Cathy Ann MacPhee and Cape Breton supergroup Còig are returning this year along with La Swing du Suête dancers from Chéticamp to round out this Grand Opening concert.
