Gaelic culture runs deep in Christmas Island where the traditions have been kept up for generations. Comunn Féis an Eilein has played a key role in maintaining the culture here, encouraging the community to preserve and promote their Gaelic roots. They host a Celtic Colours concert each year and have been presenting the annual Féis an Eilein since the early 1990s. Sarah MacInnis and Donna-Marie DeWolfe are talented young artists, both from families rooted in the Island’s culture. Cathy Ann MacPhee is one of the best Gaelic singers in the world, and we’re lucky to have her back. And Mabou natives Dawn and Margie Beaton, renowned for their harmonizing fiddles, will drive the tunes home this afternoon. Gather together with these fine performers for an afternoon of traditional and Gaelic influenced music and culture.
