Tonight we are honoured to present some very special voices dear to Celtic Colours and to the Island itself. Heather Rankin’s voice is certainly a familiar one as a member of Cape Breton band The Rankins. Multi- instrumentalist and singer Lucy MacNeil is also a familiar voice across Canada and around the world. Her crystalline vocals are immediately identifiable with her family band, the Barra MacNeils. And Irish singer and flute player Nuala Kennedy’s voice is always welcome around these parts. We are thrilled to include Joella Foulds in this concert celebrating Women of Song. Joella’s singing career started back in the 1970s when she moved to Cape Breton and met Rita MacNeil. After recording and touring with Rita for a few years, Joella shifted focus for awhile, but is now back to her first love of singing. Billie Yvette Rogers, a local singer-songwriter, rounds out tonight’s lineup.
