Some places are a little more off the beaten path than others, but all that means around here is that there are more sights to see along the way. Connected by bridge to the rugged coast of Richmond County, D’Escousse is one of the main settlements on Isle Madame, where Acadian traditions run deep. Singer-songwriter Isabella Samson grew up in nearby Louisdale, fifteen minutes away from the venue. The Canadian Folk Music award winner's ability to captivate any crowd with her unique sense of humour and thoughtful lyricism will be on display tonight as she welcomes a couple of “other islanders” to her neighbourhood. Breabach is making their first appearance at the Festival since they were here as Artists in Residence in 2019. Ranked among Scotland’s most skilled and imaginative contemporary folk acts, the group unites deep roots in Highland and Island tradition with the innovation of Scotland's vibrant music scene. And it’s one last chance to see why Newfoundland’s Rum Ragged is quickly becoming known as the finest performers of their great, living, musical tradition as they have their last show tonight. Now that sounds like a pretty good “D’Escousse” for a party!
